"Today, more than ever, girls
need to be able to envision
themselves in a range of
professions; without woman mentors, imagining the future
becomes much harder to do.

EXPLORING STEM CAREERS
The MISSING LINK:
Connecting Young Women to 21st Century STEM Careers

Careers in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) offer young women the potential for job satisfaction, good salaries, and opportunities for advancement.

EXPLORING CAREERS: THE MISSING LINK programs offer middle schools and girl-serving organizations the "missing link" to STEM careers. Our programs provide participants with the information and support they need to make well-informed, career-related decisions in high school.

Each program includes elements of math and science, reading, writing, and listening, and analytical thinking, problem-solving and spatial relationship skills. STEM career exploration programs, custom-designed for your organization to encourage young women to learn about a host of potential career paths.

The basic building block is a 50-minute workshop focusing on one career. Our programs are more effective than others for several reasons.

Women-only programs and workshop leaders and assistants are women. Enthusiastic educators serve as mentors and role models for the girls. Download our brochure.

Outstanding, creative career education programs inspire young women to look beyond what they might know to careers and a brighter future than they could imagine.

Mentors/Role Models help young women to gain confidence to try something new.

Download our mentor flyer to find out more about our mentors/role models and the career programs.

Girls and young women need to know that other women are in fields that they might consider. So having role models is an essential element of this program. Participants explore careers through the real-life stories of resilient women from diverse socio-economic backgrounds successfully working in their chosen fields.

Young women learn about financially rewarding and personally satisfying careers from the real-life stories of resilient women.

We use the brain-based learning strategies that educator Eric Jensen has shown to be more successful in reaching learners.

Workshop leaders engage participants in creative, hands-on activities. In part of every program, we get the young women up and moving to ensure high energy levels and to build enthusiasm. We show participants what skills, abilities, and interests they need for the particular career.
